Today is White Ribbon Day, the National Day to Stop Men's Violence against Women. The campaign is the largest global male-led movement to stop violence against women and asks all Australians to take a stand today to end men's violence against women.
The White Ribbon Day campaign focuses on the positive role men can play to influence the actions of the few men who use violence, intimidation and threats against the women in their lives and to break the cycle of violence in society. It is important for men from all walks of life to stand up and speak out to prevent violence and I am proud to support their campaign.
There will be a White Ribbon March on Saturday 28 November, starting from Victoria Square at 10am, ending at the steps of Parliament House on North Terrace. I will be there for the march and ask you to join the campaign.
