East Turkistan National Day

On Sunday 15 November, the East Turkistan community in South Australia remembered the establishment of the two East Turkistan Republics, the first on 12 November 1933 and the second on 12 November 1944.

Throughout the later half of the 20th Century, many groups of migrants from the East Turkistan region have established a life here in South Australia and have also sought to help their loved ones who remain back in their homeland. They have developed a strong and proud community and it was an honour to attend their celebrations, representing Mr Steven Marshall MP, State Liberal Leader.

Thank you to the East Turkistan Australian Association for the warm welcome and allowing me to join you on this special day.
