On Saturday 17 October, I attended the Gay and Lesbian Health Alliance SA (GLHA SA LGBTIQ Rights Forum at the Wheatsheaf Hotel. South Australians from all walks of life came together to discuss the 40th Anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality in SA and issues for the LGBTIQ community surrounding parenting, ageing and youth.
I was honoured to be invited and grateful to Mr Ian Purcell, Chair of the GLHA SA and the committee for the opportunity to hear South Australians discuss their experiences.

I am writing on behalf of GLHA to thank you for attending the LGBTIQ Rights Forum last Saturday at such short notice, for which I apologise once again.
Your presence representing the SA Liberal Party was much appreciated.
Please know that we also appreciate your commitment to equality for LGBTIQ people.
In the second half of the Forum, the community members present passed a resolution to act as a united front to monitor and challenge any decision or action which runs counter to the Government’s promises to amend laws which discriminate against LGBTIQ people.
This resolution will be sent to all members of the SA Parliament in the near future.
Further, a Community Action Plan is being developed to facilitate the operation of this resolution.
