State Liberals support settlement of Syrian refugees in SA

The State Liberals welcome the Federal Government’s announcement that Australia will resettle 12,000 refugees from Syria and Iraq.

"It is clear that we are facing an enormous humanitarian crisis in Syria," said State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall.

"The images that we have seen in recent weeks of the situation that these refugees are facing are simply gut-wrenching.

"We must do everything we can in our power to help alleviate this crisis, and I believe our State has a lot to offer.

"South Australia has a proud history of welcoming different cultures to our State; we are a warm, welcoming and compassionate community.

"The State Liberals will provide whatever support is necessary to facilitate this process and ensure that we can begin settling Syrian refugees in South Australia as soon as possible."
